The Solmar V has been taking divers to the Socorro Islands for 20 years! Your video should depict how amazing a trip aboard the Solmar V is, whether it be Socorro, Guadalupe or the Sea of Cortez.

HOW TO ENTER

First you'll need to register with YouTube.com to open your account. Upload your video clips taken at any of our dive destinations (SOCORRO, GUADALUPE, or SEA OF CORTEZ. Be sure to include the name SOLMAR V and the name of the destination in the video title and somewhere in the description. Send us the Public URL of the movie (for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4FmcicbA5U) along with your name and email address using this email address. We will add links to all the entries on this page as we receive them. The public will vote on their favorites.

OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES - PLEASE READ

• This contest runs through Dec. 31, 2013. Judges will consider the number of referral links your video has, the number times a video clip is favored, honored, viewed, the number of comments from qualified YouTube members and the quality and message of your video. The more websites that link to your video clip and the longer your video clip is online, the more potential click-through links you will receive. SO ENTER EARLY!
• It is not necessary to have been aboard the Solmar V when your video was shot or pictures were taken. If you were on another boat, you can still enter. It would be a very good idea not to include pictures of the other boat in your video.
• Your video must be uploaded after Jan 1, 2013. Videos uploaded before this date are not eligible.
• You must include the name SOLMAR V and the name of the destination in the video title so it can be found in a search on YouTube. A good description and the addition of keywords will also help.
• You must respect copyright. If you add music you must have permission to use it or use royalty free or stock audio. The video in your entry must be your own creation but you may use other people's video clips or photos provided you have permission, and you give them photo credit.
• You may enter up to three video clips. Each clip must be between two and seven minutes to qualify for this contest. Videos should NOT be longer than seven minutes!
• Still image and/or graphic slide shows are also eligible.
• Each YouTube.com registered account is allowed to vote only once per movie.
• You must enable the video statistice for public viewing so we can see where your views came from.
• You are responsible for all technical aspects of the production and uploading of the video clips. Don't ask us for help.
• Previous winners are allowed to enter again.
• Prize is not transferrable and must be used by the end of 2014.
• The final winning video will be determined by a staff of judges.

TIPS TO HELP YOU WIN!

1. One of the biggest mistakes people make in entering this contest is that they don't read the rules. A video clip that follows the rules will be more likely to win than one that does not.

2. Make sure you use music that is royalty free. In past years some entries were removed by YouTube because music used in the production was an infringement of copyright. Music purchased on iTunes is not royalty free.

3. Use the Solmar V logo in the video production. That will earn you points! You can find it in the agents area of this website.

4. Show off your video! Post a link to your video on Facebook, email it to your friends, post it on your favorite forum and message board. Views, likes, comments, and awards all contribute to the winner.

5. Add lot of keywords to your video.

6. Don't use tricks to falsely inflate the number of views, likes, or comments. This can get your video disqualified.

7. Enter your video in other video contests to help promote it.

NOT A VIDEOGRAPHER?

No problem! You can create a YouTube.com movie using stills in a slide show and still quality for this prize. Here is an example (this is a demo and is not included in this competition). You may also use animation or illustration! So you can win, even if you've never been there. This contest is about being creative enough to win the hearts of the voting public!

We reserve the right to refuse an entry if it is obscene, defamatory, or in poor taste. A video will be disqualified if rankings are found to be electronically manipulated or if comments, favorites, or votes are from YouTube users who have not viewed at least two videos. You are not officially entered until you have received confirmation from us that we have received your link. Winners will be contacted by email. Winning entries will be posted on the Solmar V website. Winner agrees to grant Solmar V the right to use the winning video for the promotion of Solmar V and agrees to keep the video clips online. Winners that have been removed from YouTube will forfeight their prize.
